Get trained on Red Hat Linux

As Linux gains momentum in governments, schools and businesses worldwide, the demand for Linux professionals will surely continue to rise. So there's no time like today to get started in getting yourself trained and certified in the number 1 certification for Linux and in IT today.

Updates on the Red Hat Exams

As of May 1, 2009, the format of the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) exams will became significantly shorter. The RHCE exam now consists of a single section lasting 3.5 hours, down from the 5.5 hours its previous two section format required. The RHCT exam has dropped to a single 2 hour section, down from the 2 sections and 3 hours it previously required. The time savings was accomplished by consolidating questions into a single section and by providing pre installed systems rather than requiring the test taker to perform an installation, a time consuming task that virtually every test taker could accomplish. The scope of tasks and topics covered on the exams has not changed.

Performance-based testing of real-world skills

Certifications are earned when a user demonstrates, by way of a performance-based exam, the ability to solve and perform real-world tasks. A full hierarchy of credentials provides the comprehensive and flexible program required by the highly specialized enterprise IT organization of today.

Choosing the right certification depends on your background, job role and goals. Whether you have advanced or minimal experience, Red Hat has the training that will enable you to develop the hands-on, real-world skills you will for the job and the exams.

There are two certification paths available:

Red Hat Certified Technician

Now in its fifth year, Red Hat Certified Technician is the fastest-growing credential in all of Linux. RHCT is the best first step in establishing Linux credentials and is an ideal initial certification for those transitioning from non-UNIX®/ Linux environments.
