IT Group Joins HP and Phil-Data for the Launch of New HP POS and Integrated Retail Management Solution

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES, March 12, 2009. IT Group, Inc., an enabler and partner of businesses for service innovation, together with Phil-Data and of course HP, recently conducted an intimate lunch and learn session for select clients so that they can learn about HP's new Retail POS Systems and IT Group's new integrated retail management software. The event was held last Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at THE STOCK MARKET Bar and Restaurant, B3, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City.

The first speaker at the event was Leonard Zapa, assisted by Bernard Chua, MDM of HP's POS product, who both discussed the features and many advantages of HP's new retail POS sytems. The POS systems uses the same open standards hardware platform and components of PCs but was specifically configured and hardened to meet the demands of a retail environment. There are two variants: the HP rp3000 and HP rp5700. They look similar and share the same accessories such as 15" touch screen monitors, bar code scanners, cash drawers, pole display and others. They differ in processor configurations, and expansion options, as well as support. Leonard mentioned that although the solution just recently launched in Asia, HP has had success with the solution in the US and is fully committed to carving out a niche in the retail market in the Philippines as well.

IT Group demonstrated next a completely turnkey POS and Retail Management solution that tuns on HP's retail POS systems. Called ComUnion POS and ComUnion RMS, these two software platforms can integrate to offer users with a completely turn-key, integrated software system to manage a retail business. The software is based on IT Group's ComUnion ERP platform which the company has developed and has deployed for several clients for several years.
