IT Group Helps Government Launch Technology Portal

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES, October 1, 2008. IT Group, Inc., an enabler and partner of businesses for service innovation, is pleased to announce that project for the Department of Science and Technology, the One-Stop-Information Shop of Technologies, is now online! The website aims to promote technologies developed by our very own Filipino scientists and researchers that are viable for commercialization.  

The project and online portal was officially launched last September 25, 2008 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. The event was attended by more than 100 officials from various government sectors and NGOs. The One-Stop-Information Shop of Technologies (OSIST) in the Philippines is an online database of over 280 technologies, inventions, and process improvements on almost all sectors and industries such as advance science, food and food process, engineering, metals, environment, health and biotechnology, forestry, nuclear science, and many more.

The main objective of the project is to establish an internet-based service to promote DOST assisted/monitored technologies and to provide technical assistance to the business community in order to increase and attract investments on said technologies.

IT Group developed and designed the website using the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) platform.  The new website provides OSIST project with a comprehensive set of features for content management, member registration and online interaction.  In addition, it also provides a search engine for searching content in the website.  The website was developed so that website administrators can publish ongoing updates without the need for additional programming.
