BATU taps ITG as their IT partner for their online assets.

Quick Facts:

  • Industry : Organization
As a trade union social movement or workers‘ organization, BATU is also considered as an NGO.

BATU or the Brotherhood of Asian Trade Unions, established in 1963 is the regional body of the World Confederation of Labour in Asia which shows concern for all workers to fully exercise their rights. It was created to promote the welfare of the workers in Asia.

With more than 40 years of existence and countless achievements the Brotherhood of Asian Trade Unions formerly known as the Brotherhood of Asian Trade Unionist (BATU) proved that attaining a just and humane society is very much possible if workers, employers and government will take part in achieving this goal.

BATU has worked hard to promote and protect the interests of the workers particularly in Asia, and to safeguard and realize the rights of all workers in general. BATU set sights on playing a dynamic and creative part in the essential development of man and society. Known to many, the acronym “BATU” was significantly taken from the Indo-Malay word “batu” which means “stone” or “rock” that epitomizes the solid-rock foundation of the workers’ movement in Asia.

BATU has been affiliated to the World Confederation of Labour-WCL (formerly known as the International Federation of Christian Trade Unions) and served as the regional body of WCL in Asia.

The Challenges

  • Design. Develop. Look for a business solutions company that will design and develop BATU’s online assets.
  • Intranet Management and Maintenance. Seek for a cost-effective and user friendly way to manage the intranet – one that is fit for its non-technical staff to build and publish the intranet.

The Solution

ITG has been tasked to design, deploy and manage BATU’s online asset which can be viewed at www.batu.org.ph. The solution covers not only the design and development of BATU’s official website, but also a Content Management Solution for ease of maintenance and support.

The Results

  • Cost Management. Eliminated the need to purchase other proprietary products, reducing total cost of the solution.
  • More effective content management and recycling of content; speed to publish.
  • Control of the intranet within their own environment; Continuous site improvement
